What is PMEGP?

It is Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). This is a unique scheme where Subsidy is approved before the approval of loan. Under this scheme, 15% capital subsidy is available to General Category entrepreneurs who start their units in Urban area. The subsidy increases to 25% if the unit is established in Rural area. In case of SC/ST/OBC/Minorities, Women Entrepreneurs, Physically Handicapped, Ex-servicemen, Hill and Border areas etc., the subsidy is 25% for unit established in Urban area and it is 35% for Rural areas.

Eligibility Criteria:

• The maximum cost of project admissible under manufacturing sector is Rs. 25 lakh and for upgradation is Rs. 1.00 crore.
• The maximum cost of project admissible under business/service sector is Rs. 10 lakh and for upgradation is Rs. 25 lakh.
• Entrepreneur should be above 18 years of age.
• Entrepreneur should be at least 8th pass for setting up a project of more than Rs. 10 lakh in manufacturing sector and Rs. 5 lakh in business/service sector.
• Only new projects are eligible under PMEGP.
